DENVER—A well Anadarko Petroleum Corp. drilled horizontally on the old Lowry bombing range in Arapahoe County has yielded the equivalent of 200 barrels of oil a day in its the first month of production.
The Denver Post reports () that according to data filed with the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, production dropped to the equivalent of 127 barrels of oil a day after 90 days. The production number includes oil and gas, with oil making up less than half of the production.
Anadarko spokesman John Christiansen says more test wells have to be drilled to determine how much oil and gas is in the area, which sits on the oil-rich Niobrara formation.
State records show Anadarko has six drilling permits in Arapahoe County, with 11 more pending.
