Divers have recovered the body of a man who went into the water when his canoe capsized in Skagway Reservoir last Thursday, according to the Teller County Sheriff’s Office.

Divers pulled the body from the water on Saturday afternoon, said dispatcher Robin Lindberg. The man’s identity is being withheld pending notification of his family.

Witnesses say the man was wearing wader boots and yelled for help before sinking, according to the Associated Press. They say they tried to save him but couldn’t reach him in time.
