Comedy: Cheers to the local stand-up scene

Sunday-June 16. The Mile High City’s live comedy scene has blown up over the last five years, growing from a handful of open-mic nights and monthly shows to a supportive community that encompasses clubs, theaters and all manner of alternative venues. To celebrate the launch of the new website  founder Rick DeSimone — who hosts the Sunday stand-up nights at Kinga’s Lounge — is holding the tongue-in-cheek Denver Comedy Awareness Week Sunday through June 16, culminating in a June 19 event at Comedy Works that unites open-mic hosts Sam Tallent (above), Devin Davis, Jordon Doll, Nick Gossert, Nate Balding, Roger Norquist and others. at .
