DENVER—Authorities are working hard trying to enforce a ban on using private fireworks in Colorado.
Until further notice, lighting fireworks is banned because of the hot and dry conditions across the state, but stores and roadside stands are still allowed to sell them. Commercial, professional and municipal fireworks displays are still allowed with written approval from the county sheriff.
According to KCNC-TV ( ), police and firefighters will be out enforcing an order by Gov. John Hickenlooper banning their use. Violators can be fined up to $1,000 and be held liable for any damage they cause.
