Connextions, a subsidiary of UnitedHealth Group’s Optum health-services business, today will announce the creation of 550 jobs for its new call center in Centennial, which the company expects to have fully staffed in August.
The company will hold a news conference detailing the new positions today. Gov. John Hickenlooper will attend the event, which will be followed by a job fair. A second job fair will take place Wednesday.
Connextions brings together insurance companies and customers. The company helps six of the nation’s seven leading insurance carriers with enrollment, retention and service of customers. It also helps customers reach and understand a number of health-care services.
“What Connextions focuses on is helping the consumer navigate the health-care space,” said Steve Auerbach, president of Connextions.
The company invested $4 million in its new 45,000-square-foot facility in Centennial. The company already has a facility outside of Boulder, where it has operated for more than a decade.
Lynn Myers, vice president of economic development for the Denver South Economic Development Partnership, said Connextions will be a perfect fit because it will add to the support and growth of the health-care industry in the area.
Positions for the new facility include: customer-service agents, licensed insurance agents, coaches, supervisors, analysts and other administrative positions. The company has already begun recruiting in the Denver area.
“We are looking for folks that are passionate about helping consumers,” Auerbach said.
The majority of the positions available are for licensed and nonlicensed insurance agents, Auerbach said. The salary for these positions will range between $30,000 and $40,000 including incentives, in addition to free College of Insurance training for eligible applicants to help them prepare for state licensing exams.
Myers said receiving 550 jobs at once is valuable — especially if the company provides free training for many of the positions.
Connextions is also hiring for technician positions at its Boulder location.
“Connextions is already part of Colorado’s thriving technology community,” Hickenlooper said in a statement. “We are pleased to see this innovative company continue to grow in Colorado.”
