Suds go better with Spot
Beer. Puppies. seems to be aiming to max out its appeal to humans and search engines alike with its new Paws in the Park fundraiser, 1 to 9 p.m. today at Roger’s Grove Park. Left Hand Brewing Company is the co-sponsor, and there’s a doggie flying-disc tournament, pet and owner lookalike contest, music, search-and-rescue and K9 unit demonstrations — and, naturally, beer. For your quadruped family members, the event promises pools and play areas to keep the pack chilled and amused. $5 admission; children 5 and under free. longmonthumane.org
Scent-sible fashion
Your outdoorsy, river-wading, lake-diving dog may not hate it if his or her collar picks up a funk — hey, dead fish and dirty socks probably smell good to them. But you’re the one who foots the fancy kibble bill. Give your own sniffer a break with the Just Ducky Perfect Collar, made of poly-coated webbing that’s waterproof and shrugs off UV rays, heat, cold and salt. $12.95 and available in black, yellow, red, orange, blue, or — yes, pink (who says an outdoorsy dog can’t be girly?). justduckyproducts-store.com
Nose prints welcome
But isn’t it better if those noseprints are on an energy-saving window or door? SolarGlass Window & Door and Chuck & Don’s Pet Food Outlet are hosting an animal adoption event for MaxFund 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 30. The mobile adoption van will be onsite at the store at 201 University Blvd., Suite 123. Drawings, costume contests and there’ll be a pre-Fourth of July Pooch Parade at 1 p.m. 303-783-9300 or maxfund.org
