The bridges
• Stoneman Bridge: The 80-year-old, 205-foot granite bridge crosses the Merced River in a single, arching span. It provides a dramatic foreground to Half Dome rock.
• Ahwahnee and Sugar Pine bridges: The 160-foot Ahwahnee is a triple-span bridge, and the 170-foot Sugar Pine is a double. From 1928 to 1970, they were part of a roadway from the Ahwahnee Hotel to Mirror Lake at the eastern end of the valley, but today they are used only by hikers and bikers.
