BOULDER, Colo.—Authorities have decided to end their search for a 74-year-old woman last seen hiking in the foothills northwest of Boulder almost two weeks ago.

Boulder County sheriff’s officials said Monday that Patricia Wallace of Lafayette is presumed dead.

Wallace was hiking with friends in the Camp Dick area July 3 when she decided to take another route she thought would be easier. She was last seen wearing a big floppy hat. Sheriff’s Cmdr. Rick Brough (Broff) says Wallace hadn’t taken much food or water with her.

Brough says officials in Boulder and Grand counties haven’t found any signs of Wallace in the last 13 days. Her family was notified the search is ending.

The Daily Camera has reported Wallace may be suffering from early stages of dementia.
