One of the biggest film composers in modern cinema — and the man behind the score of “The Dark Knight Rises” — has written a piece of music for those affected by last week’s shootings in Aurora at a midnight screening of the new “Batman” film.
Hans Zimmer is the German-born Academy Award-winning composer best known for his scores for “The Lion King,” “Gladiator,” two “Sherlock Holmes” films, three “Pirates of the Caribbean” movies and all three of director Christopher Nolan’s “Batman” films, including the most recent “The Dark Knight Rises.” Zimmer announced “Aurora,” a moody, Gothic-sounding composition, via his Facebook page on Friday morning.
“‘Aurora’ is dedicated to those who lost their lives and were affected by the tragedy in Aurora, Colorado,” Zimmer wrote. “I recorded this song in London in the days following the tragedy as a heartfelt tribute to the victims and their families. 100% of the proceeds will be donated to Aurora Victim Relief organization.”
The song is available on iTunes. .
