The annual at the Planet Bluegrass ranch in Lyons is consistently one of the summer’s best weekends for live music. Part “big name” festival, part community gathering with its late-night picking circles, the 40th incarnation of the fest (running Friday-Sunday) will host bluegrass and folk favorites Sam Bush, Bela Fleck, Chris Thile & Michael Daves, Trampled by Turtles, Punch Brothers, Tim O’Brien, Emmitt-Nershi Band, Dr. Ralph Stanley & His Clinch Mountain Boys and more. Both three-day and single-day passes are sold out, but look for extras on Main Street (U.S. 36) in Lyons. If all else fails, pack a tube for an afternoon on the St. Vrain.
