Colorado Springs firefighters extricated a man from his vehicle Wednesday after it rolled over near North 19th Street and West Pikes Peak Ave.
Sgt. Chris Newton with the Colorado Springs Police Department said a call came in around 7:15 p.m. Police received reports that witnesses saw the Hyundai airborn, traveling at speeds in excess of 80 mph, before it crashed into a parked vehicle.
Firefighters had to remove the roof of the car. Newton said the male was the only person in the vehicle. He was taken to Penrose Main Hospital with minor injuries.
“He’s doing all right,” Newton said. “He’s still getting checked out.”
Newton said officials do not think alcohol was a factor, but tests will be conducted at the hospital.
“He’s very lucky,” she said.
