BILLINGS, Mont.—A coroner’s jury is confirming that a Colorado fugitive committed suicide in a Montana motel room as police attempted to arrest him.

The Billings Gazette reports ( ) the unanimous jury took less than 10 minutes Tuesday to determine that 29-year-old Brenton David Glaser slit his own throat in the bathroom of a motel room in the small town of Ballantine before he could be arrested.

Glaser, of Evans, Colo., fled parole stemming from a sexual assault charge.

Police say Glaser went into the motel bathroom and slammed the door as the officers entered. Police found him bleeding heavily from his throat, and he died before he could be taken to the hospital.

The inquest is required by state law anytime law enforcement officers are involved in a death.
