Arapahoe County-based Arrow Electronics Inc. said Wednesday that it has agreed to acquire Redemtech Inc., a Columbus, Ohio company whose business is electronic and computer recycling.

In making the announcement, Arrow said that Redemtech offers a comprehensive array of services including data removal, data security, and electronic remarketing services.

Redemtech’s customers include the government and financial services industry.

“The acquisition of Redemtech further strengthens our industry-leading position in the EAD (electronic asset disposition) market and strategically expands our footprint capabilities in this fast-growing market,” said Paul J. Reilly, Arrow’s chief financial officer.

“We are excited to welcome the Redemtech team to the Arrow family,” he added.

Headquartered in Columbus, Redemtech has approximately 400 employees. Sales in 2012 are expected to total approximately $60 million.

Arrow controls about 40 percent of the global business supplying electronic components and services, primarily to manufacturers.

Arrow works with about 1,200 suppliers and 115,000 equipment makers.
