A 22 year-old woman who allegedly left the scene after running over a bicyclist who later died was charged with vehicular homicide and careless driving resulting in death Wednesday.

Catherine Marie Bean, who has been released on $1,000 cash bond, was charged in the death of Kenneth W. Kienzle, 58, of Lakewood.

Kienzle was riding a bike at the intersection of South Wadsworth Boulevard and West Ohio Avenue when he was hit last week. Lakewood police said they later received a call from Bean, who stated she may have been in an accident.

Lakewood police investigators went to the 600 block of South Vance Street where she was arrested.

Kienzle was declared brain dead Thursday and died Friday

Bean bonded out of Jefferson County Jail sometime after her initial hearing last Friday, said Jefferson County District Attorney’s spokeswoman Pam Russell.

She was also charged with driving under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident involving death.
