A woman’s body was found Monday afternoon in the bushes one house over from where 23-year-old Bertha Garcia was last seen early Sunday.
Aurora police spokesman Frank Fania said the body was found by Garcia’s neighbor in the 1900 block of Paris Street at about 4:30 p.m. By 6 p.m., investigators were still working at the scene and had not removed the body.
Fania said an autopsy will confirm the woman’s identity.
Police they were also looking for Garcia’s ex-boyfriend, German Medina, 32, of Denver.
There had been no reported sightings of Garcia or Medina since the disappearance, Fania said Monday.
Police said a friend of Garcia’s said she walked him to his car at about 12:15 a.m. Sunday at her home, but as he was driving away he saw a man approach her before she got back inside her home.
Police said Medina’s brother told them Medina had asked to borrow his car and a gun. The brother said he lent Medina his car but not a gun.
Fania said police are still looking for a black 1997 Lexus with Colorado license plate 339-WDJ.
