Lakewood police have named a suspect in a hit-and-run accident that killed an Afghan War veteran last month.

Police believe the driver, Heriberto Palacio, 35, is still in the metro area. A warrant has been issued for two counts of felony hit and run.

Jesse Pringle, 26, an Army specialist and a former Lakewood High School football player, was knocked off his motorcycle by a dark-colored Ford Expedition on Aug. 19 near West Alameda Avenue and South Benton Street. A passenger on the motorcycle was seriously injured but survived.

Pringle was taken off life support a week later.

Pringle had been preparing for his second deployment in Afghanistan and was nearing completion of his bachelor’s degree in Metro State University.

Anyone with information on Palacio’s whereabouts should call the Lakewood Police at 303-987-7111.
