An east Commerce City neighborhood was blocked off and two schools were put on lock down Thursday afternoon as police searched for a man wanted on charges of domestic violence and attempted murder.

The manhunt started when officers tried contact the 23-year-old suspect in the 6400 block of Niagara Street. The man ran from police and jumped fences to get away.

That brought more officers, who joined in the search, set up a perimeter around the neighborhood and put Kemp Elementary and Kearney Middle schools on lockdown from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The search eventually led police to a second location, in the 5700 block of Niagara Street.

Ultimately, the suspect got away. Police are still looking for him.
