BOULDER, Colo.—Friends of renowned long-distance runner Micah True have spread some of the athlete’s ashes along the trails in a Boulder park.
The Daily Camera ( ) reports about 20 people gathered at Chautauqua Park on Friday to remember the Boulder ultrarunner, who rose to fame when he was featured in the best-selling book “Born to Run.”
True’s body was found in southwestern New Mexico on March 31 after he failed to return from a routine run. An autopsy determined the 58-year-old died of heart disease.
His girlfriend, Maria Walton, says now, with his ashes spread on Boulder’s trails, everyone can still run with him.
True—nicknamed “Caballo Blanco,” or white horse—has been described by friends as a pioneer of ultrarunning, which involves running extreme distances, often on grueling terrain.
