BOULDER, Colo.—A former Regional Transportation District bus driver involved in an accident that killed a 92-year-old woman has pleaded guilty to careless driving resulting in death.

John Gibbons of Denver pleaded guilty Thursday and was sentenced to 12 months of probation. The Daily Camera reports () he also must complete 200 hours of community service.

Remy Pitts of Boulder was killed when the car she was driving was struck by an RTD bus that pulled in front of her May 9. She died a day later of her injuries.

There were no passengers on the bus Gibbons was driving when it collided with Pitts’ car.

RTD spokesman Scott Reed says Gibbons was terminated after an investigation into the crash.
