Denver East has re-emerged as the No. 1 team in the Class 5A boys soccer coaches poll in a week that saw the ranking add four new teams.
The Angels (8-1-0) went 3-1-0 last week — which included a 2-1-0 showing at the national Gateway City Soccer Classic in St. Louis. Former No. 1 Adams City fell to third behind upstart Heritage (9-0-1), which has won seven consecutive matches.
New to this week’s poll are No. 6 Smoky Hill (9-1-1), No. 7 Arapahoe (6-2-0), No. 8 Arvada West (8-1-0) and No. 10 Loveland (7-0-2).
The 4A poll was nearly as fluid, adding three new teams: No. 7 Windsor (8-0-0), No. 9 Mullen (5-3-1) and No. 10 Ponderosa (5-3-2).
Aurora West (10-1-0) was the lone new team to the 3A poll, joining at tenth.
