GYPSUM, Colo.—Sen. Michael Bennet says the U.S. Department of Agriculture has approved a $40 million loan guarantee to finance a biomass power plant in Gypsum.
The Colorado Democrat said Thursday that the loan guarantee is for Eagle Valley Clean Energy LLC to finance a proposed 11.5-megawatt plant that would use wood biomass such as the results of forest thinning for fuel.
The plant would have the capacity to power nearly 10,000 homes.
