Four people who were in a car that crashed during a chase on Saturday night were taken into custody but the driver, who is suspected in a Colorado Springs shooting, fled the scene.

The Colorado State Patrol hasn’t filed or recommended charges against the four passengers. “Charges related to the pursuit and crash are pending against the driver,” CSP spokesman Sgt. Mike Baker said in a release.

The incident started when officers in Colorado Springs were called to the Pins and Needles Tattoo parlor, 3737 Drennan Rd. on reports of a shooting.

They found no victim, but nearby found shell casings and the front bumper of a car that had been reported stolen in Denver.

Witnesses told police that a “rap battle” was taking place at the tattoo shop and that a rapper said something that angered others at the show.

The victim and the shooter both fled the scene.

At approximately 6 p.m., a Trooper traveling northbound on I-25 near Monument spotted a green Honda Accord matching the description of a vehicle associated with the shooting incident.

The trooper turned on his flashers and the Honda accelerated and fled.

The Honda crashed about two miles further north near Tomah Road.

The driver, described as a black male wearing a white tank top and black jeans, fled the scene on foot. Troopers and Douglas County Sheriff’s deputies pursued the driver but were unable to apprehend him after an extensive search of the area.
