
COLORADO SPRINGS — Colorado Springs police have arrested the estranged husband of a Colorado Springs soldier found shot to death in her west-side apartment Tuesday morning.
Louis Mamo, 26, who family members say was estranged from his wife, Karen Mamo, was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of second-degree murder, according to court records. Louis Mamo was being held at the El Paso County jail in lieu of a $50,000 bond Wednesday morning.
Karen Mamo, 25, was found shot to death in her apartment at 3210 N. Chestnut Street at 5:50 a.m. Tuesday. The death was initially reported to police as a suspected suicide but police later said they were investigating it as a “death of unknown origin.” On Wednesday, police confirmed her was being investigated as a homicide.
