Builders are struggling to create homes for the faster pace of this year’s housing market around Denver – but what they’re NOT building are the lavish community features and amenities you’re going to see this weekend at Idyllwilde in Parker, the master plan wrapped around an iconic park and community center. It won the Mame Award as ‘Best Community’ in the entire Denver-Boulder area for two years running, and is up for that honor again tonight.
“We’re seeing developers moving away from the kind of amenity-rich master-plan that Idyllwilde represents now,” said Ete Rondeau of Village Homes, joined at Idyllwilde by Richmond American Homes and Triton Communities, all with models you can tour today. “Realtors are telling us they’re not finding the recreations center, the pools and the trails that buyers like to see included up-front when they move.” There are two more things you’ll see at Idyllwilde that you’ll be hard-pressed to find in other areas; starting with Douglas County Schools within walking distance: Cimarron Middle and Legend High, each rated 8-for-10 stars at GreatSchools.net. You’ll also find a calendar of family events: an Oktoberfest last weekend; informal social groups that walk the trails and gather for dining-out; and a Halloween party that will be pulling kids together next week. All of that adds up to brisk sales; but builders have been keeping some ‘specs’ underway that offer a few opportunities to move into Idyllwilde in time for the holidays; including two ranches and a main floor master. That includes a luxurious ‘Valencia’ ranch by Village, over 2,000 square feet and plenty more in an unfinished basement, plus optimal energy features, at $399,900 (tour it today). After you tour Richmond American’s models, you’ll see a deluxe ‘Signature Series’ ranch nearby with finished garden-level basement on a mountain view site, $618,648. Meanwhile, Triton has arrived with cottages from the mid-$200s – landscape maintenance and snow removal provided. You’ll tour a 3-bedroom-plus-study model; and see sites with homes on track for spring move-in. And you’ll see the nature-wrapped amenities – 300 acres of scenic open space; 12-acre Tallman Meadow Park with ball field, soccer, playground and picnic areas; ‘Grand Hall’ community center and pool, kids’ splash park, fully equipped fitness center, barbeque pit, and an outdoor entertainment area. Take Parker Road south to Hess Road, travel east 1.4 miles to Canterberry Parkway, turn left to Idyllwilde Drive, and follow directional signs to builders’ model complexes. WHERE: ‘Community of the Year’ finalist at tonight’s MAME Awards, master-planned neighborhood walking distance from top-rated Douglas County Schools; finished models and pre-holiday move-in homes to tour by three builders; trails, 300 acres open space.
