DENVER—A Colorado State Patrol trooper is recovering from his injuries after he struck a deer with his patrol car in Parker.

Patrol spokesman Nate Reid tells The Denver Post ( ) the trooper, whose name has not been released, was responding to a call when his vehicle hit the animal near an intersection. The patrol car went off the side of the road and onto a sidewalk before hitting a tree.

Reid says the trooper was hospitalized with minor to moderate injuries and “is doing all right.”

The deer was killed in the crash.
