Three people were injured Wednesday morning in a single-vehicle crash in Douglas County.

The crash happened at about 6:10 a.m., northeast of Parker near the intersection of North Tomahawk and East Spring Creek roads, as a Colorado State Patrol trooper was in “pursuit” of an Acura, said Nate Reid, a state patrol spokesman.

All three in the Acura were taken to a local hospital to be treated for injuries.

The trooper was driving northbound on South Powhaton Road when the Acura, which was southbound, came into the northbound lane and almost side-swiped the trooper’s vehicle, Reid said.

The trooper made a U-turn and pursued the Acura.

About two-minutes later the driver of the Acura failed to make a turn from Spring Creek on to Tomahawk and the vehicle hit an embankment.

The people in the Acura, a man and two women, were not identified.

Investigators believe the man was driving at the time of the incident.
