DENVER—The woman who had an extramarital affair with then-CIA Director David Petraeus has a master’s degree from the University of Denver and spoke at a the school last month.
A biography of Paula Broadwell on the university’s website says she received a master’s in international security in 2006.
She was a keynote speaker at the 2012 Alumni Symposium on Oct. 26-27, just two weeks before Petraeus resigned from the CIA and his affair with Broadwell was made public.
In her DU speech, Broadwell said the CIA had detained people at a secret facility in Libya, and the September attack on the U.S. Consulate there was an effort to free those prisoners. A CIA spokesman denied the assertion.
Broadwell also spoke at an Oct. 9 party in Denver honoring female GOP candidates for the Colorado Legislature, The Denver Post reported Monday ( ).
Broadwell studied in DU’s Josef Korbel School of International Studies, whose graduates also include Condoleezza Rice, a secretary of state and national security adviser for then-President George W. Bush.
