Where else but Sweden? Rather than seeking treatment, an addict is receiving benefits for his metal problem. Yes that’s metal — not mental.
Roger Tullgren, a 42-year-old man from Sweden, has reportedly been granted disability benefits for his addiction to . A 2011 article from has been circulating ’round the World Wide Web in the last day, which says Tullgren consulted three psychologists to testify about his addiction, which led to him attending more than 300 concerts in the last year, unable to hold down a steady job.
Speaking to , back in 2007, Tullgren said: “I have been trying for 10 years to get this classified as a handicap. I spoke to three psychologists and they finally agreed that I needed this to avoid being discriminated against.”
Now, he has a part-time job as a dishwasher, which will be supplemented by the disability benefits. Tullgren’s new boss agreed to let him as loud as he wants, provided as it wouldn’t disturb customers. He said he will even give Tullgren time off to go to gigs.
Tullgren said he’s been hooked on metal since his brother played him a album when he was a baby.
