LONGMONT, Colo.—A 51-year-old man is facing auto theft and DUI charges after an ambulance was stolen while emergency crews were tending to an elderly woman who had fallen.
Authorities say fire and medical crews were treating an 86-year-old woman in her Longmont home at about 3 a.m. Sunday when they heard the ambulance backing up.
Rosemary Winter says she heard the ambulance attendants yelling when they realized their vehicle was gone. She says she is glad her injuries were not serious.
The driver stopped the vehicle after driving several blocks. Police spokesman Jeff Satur says Robert Taylor told officers he was cold when he was arrested.
