DEL NORTE, Colo.—A man suspected in the shooting deaths of a Colorado couple nearly a year ago has made his first court appearance.
The Alamosa Valley Courier reports( ) Daniel M. Bessey appeared briefly in Rio Grande County Court in Del Norte on Thursday.
Bessey was arrested last month in Beckham County, Okla., on suspicion of first-degree murder and other charges.
He is suspected in the Feb. 13, 2012, shooting deaths of 54-year-old John Salazar and 29-year-old Sarah Beasley.
According to court records, Bessey had an on-again, off-again relationship with Beasley and is the biological father of a boy who lived with Salazar at the time of the shootings.
Bessey is scheduled to return to court on March 7.
