DENVER—A teacher accused of injuring a Denver teen in a hit-and-run crash has been formally charged.
The Denver Post reports ( ) Erin Jackson, a fifth-grade teacher at an Aurora charter school, faces a charge of leaving the scene of an accident causing serious bodily injury. She is free on $25,000 bond and is set to appear in court Friday.
Investigators say Jackson hit 16-year-old East High School student Deyondrah Bridgeman, who was crossing Colfax Avenue at about 7 a.m. Feb. 27. The girl suffered serious injuries and remains in critical condition.
Jackson, who turned herself in to police the next day, is accused of running a red light before hitting the teen and fleeing.
The vehicle believed to have been involved was found about five blocks from the scene.
