has long been known for its nuanced selection of opening acts. And the band recently announced some big supporting acts for its shows in Dallas, Bristow, Va., and Denver.
Would we call the just-announced selections nuanced? Not quite. Strange is more like it.
Opening for DMB in Dallas on May 18 is Mariachi El Bronx, according to the band’s website. That’s a solid choice, adding a horn-fueled, punk-spirited party to the big night.
Opening for DMB in Bristow on July 27 is Gogol Bordello, giving that bill a similarly frenetic, multi-culti energy.
But opening for DMB in Denver on Aug. 23-24 is MC/weed aficionado . It’s a strange selection for sure, but both acts’ fanbases share certain qualities, I suppose. Let the good times roll.
