What we didn’t know earlier this week was that Prince would later announce four shows at Denver’s comparatively tiny 1,700-capacity .
Yeah, that just happened.
Prince will headline shows at the Ogden Theatre on May 12-13. He’ll play two shows per night, at 8 and 11:30 p.m. According to the release, the pop legend will be playing with his all-ladies band, 3rdEyeGirl.
The Denver dates are the final stop on a nine-city tour, which starts at Vancouver’s Vogue Theatre on April 15-16.
The shows follow Prince’s recent appearance at the South by Southwest Music Festival last weekend – an intimate show that had him playing for more than three hours.
Will he play three-hour shows on this tour? Possibly. It looks like there’s time, if he starts promptly at 8 p.m., finishes at 11 and pushes the first crowd out the door to make room for the second audience.
But note: There is one hitch: Tickets are on sale right now via , and they’re $250 apiece. Some will surely complain about the high ticket price, but Prince hasn’t played a Colorado venue smaller than 18,000 capacity in many of our lifetimes, so others will consider it totally worth it.
