DURANGO, Colo.—A Hermosa man has been sentenced to three years in prison over his friend’s death in 2011 after a night of drinking.

Justin Bradley Wiese pleaded guilty in February to criminally negligent homicide in the shooting death of Derrick Zuber in Wiese’s home. The Durango Herald reports () that at a sentencing hearing Wednesday, Wiese accepted responsibility for the death but didn’t say how it occurred.

Wiese was arrested April 20, 2011, after calling 911 to say he had woken up to find Zuber on the floor. A medical examiner said Zuber had a fatal gunshot wound that wasn’t self-inflicted.

Both men worked at Purgatory at Durango Mountain Resort. Zuber was a mechanic, while Wiese was the head of the information technology department.
