ASPEN, Colo.—Aspen is considering a break for small lodges from the city government on permit fees and improvements to preserve more of the quaint tourist accommodations.
The city’s capital asset director, Scott Miller, on Tuesday proposed that the city waive those fees for lodges of 60 rooms or less that want to renovate. The lodges also could get on-street parking spaces from the city as an incentive. The lodges would have to repay the fees if they expanded beyond the limits.
According to the Aspen Daily News ( ), there are 16 lodges in town that meet the small, moderate-priced criteria.
