COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—Passenger traffic at the Colorado Springs Airport fell to its lowest point in more than a decade in February, as Frontier Airlines began reducing service.
The Gazette reports ( ) airport traffic in February declined 6.3 percent from a year earlier to 50,866 passengers, which is the lowest monthly total since at least the mid-1990s. Traffic for the first two months of the year is down 0.9 percent from the same period last year to 108,483 travelers.
Denver-based Frontier Airlines started rolling back its service to and from Colorado Springs in February and ended its Colorado Springs service April 7.
Airport officials estimate Frontier’s departure will cut passenger numbers this year by 16 percent to a 22-year low.
