MONTROSE, Colo.—The Montrose County sheriff is looking for whoever shot a dog in the head and left her in a canal.
Sheriff Rick Dunlap said Wednesday that a woman found the yellow Labrador retriever crawling out of the canal on Tuesday.
The Montrose Daily Press ( ) reported that the dog, now named Blanche, was shot with a small caliber weapon in the top of her head. She has been placed in foster care while she recovers. Dunlap said he wants to find her a permanent home when she heals.
