DENVER—A judge has scheduled a May 21 trial for a woman accused of buying the gun used to kill Colorado’s prisons chief.
The date was set Tuesday during a brief court appearance for 22-year-old Stevie Marie Ann Vigil in Centennial.
She’s accused of buying a 9mm Smith & Wesson handgun on March 6 and giving it to Evan Ebel, the only suspect in the killing of corrections director Tom Clements. As a convicted felon, he wasn’t allowed to have a gun.
Ebel has also been linked to the killing of a pizza deliveryman two days before Clements was killed.
Vigil is the cousin of one of Ebel’s longtime friends. The Denver Post ( ) reported that Vigil and her attorney declined to speak to reporters after the hearing.
