With just a week and change until their anticipated third LP, “Modern Vampires of the City” hits shelves, has released another new song.
Like before it, the “Ya Hey” lyric video has the feel of a multimedia art installation. Behind the lyric crawl, we see a scarcely moving camera fix in tight on robed folks and the band themselves shaking champagne on a New York skyscraper.
That image combined with the fact that the song title is an inversion of everyone’s favorite , you’d think “Ya Hey” would be an ecstatic pop song. Far from it. Still, it’s a groovy, lyrically layered five minutes, with a dose of Paul Simon in the mix. Definitely worth the watch and read.
