The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in finding a woman suspected of stealing a wallet and checkbook and going on a fraudulent spending spree.

The incident happened on April 17 when the victim left her purse on a chair at her desk in an office building at 2701 Youngfield St., Golden, according to a Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office media release.

A passerby spotted the purse, rifled through it and stole a wallet and a checkbook.

“The thief went on a spending spree at two Walmarts and a King Soopers store, acquiring over $1,000 of merchandise with the stolen (credit) cards and checks,” the sheriff’s office said.

The thief is described as a white woman with dark, shoulder-length hair parted in the middle. She wore eye glasses and dark clothing, and carried a black or dark colored purse. Her truck is a mid-1990s white Ford F-250 with a chrome tool box in the bed.

Anyone with information on this crime, or a possible suspect, can call the Jeffco Sheriff’s Office tip line at 303 571-5612.
