Time to shift focus away from the for a bit and get back to the old , the folk singer-songwriter. Today, Rateliff announced he will open for and Dr. Dog on the fall leg of their tour. This will have Rateliff playing in more than 10,000-capacity venues for two months.

According to , he and his folk band will be in the support slot for 18 shows starting with the Great Saltair Amphitheater in Magna, UT on Sept. 17. The tour includes shows on the West Coast and into the south.

Since the Lumineers’ breakout year in 2012, which brought the band to the Grammys in February, the vest and suspender-clad Denver act has been gracious to the local music scene with opening slots. The Lumineers may not be Denver natives, or even longtime residents, but they’ve been paying the scene back. At , local folk act is opening the show. Then on its second night at Red Rocks on Sept. 15 local rock band is opening.
