The active drummers for and , Wild Flag, Hella and Death Grips will divide their duties and think about themselves for once in a new supergroup called DRUMGASM. (Weiss’ inoperative band, Sleater-Kinney, has been on “indefinite hiatus” since 2006.)

that the self-titled collaborative album will be released by Portland’s Jackpot Records. The label is currently fielding pre-orders for a hand-numbered vinyl that includes a digital download. Hill’s Facebook page informs of a formal record announcement on Wednesday.

How might a DRUMGASM strike the ear? Their bio explains:

“Three people, three drum kits, some microphones and a reel of tape – thatap it: pure spontaneity. There’s nothing out there thatap very comparable to this – maybe the Voodoo drum ritual music of the Drummers of the Societe Absolument Guinin, is all I can think of, though admittedly even that is a pretty far cry.”
