XVI is the hip-hop concert that unofficially kicks off the hot season in Denver every year. Radio station KS1075 brings an array of mainstream artists to the city and this year we’ll see the return of some crowd favorites.

Featured performers include Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, J.Cole, Wale, Trey Songz, Future and B.Smyth. That’s a lot of hip-hop on one stage. For an optimal experience, we’ve put together a guide to Summer Jam 2013 in Denver, where we chose our three favorite acts. It all starts Friday at 5:30 p.m. at Fiddler’s Green.

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis

The Seattle duo has been tearing up the charts with singles like “Same Love,” “Thrift Shop” and “Can’t Hold Us.” Yeah we’ve seen them a million times by now in Colorado, but the hook to “Can’t Hold Us” should be heard live and at epic crowd levels. The duo’s live band gives an edge over many in the rap game. Expect an electric performance you’ll be talking about the next day.

Trey Songz

is a crooner, and he’ll likely up the sexy factor more than a few notches. Don’t be surprised to find yourself singing along to “Bottoms Up,” or “Invented Sex” with thousands of other people. A new face to the Summer Jam stage, Trey Songz is the one to watch.

2 Chainz

will be wearing more than two chains. No matter where you’re seated in the arena, you’ll see his jewls gleaming. 2 Chainz is no new comer to this stage, and he knows how to rock a crowd. The MC usually has more than 11 singles and features in rotation at any given time. If you’re one of the few not into 2 Chainz, get familiar. He will be the highlight.
