Two fires started by lightning Thursday in are burning 150 acres on Wild Mountain, the park said in a news release Friday.
Firefighters are managing the Wild fire and Hacking fire to benefit the park. They are in a remote area, not threatening any facilities. Helicopter support has been requested to protect private property within the monument.
The monument is open and the visitor center is not impacted, although visitors are asked to avoid the Wild Mountain area.
