Friday-Saturday. The Evergreen Fine Art Gallery has a little fun this weekend, mixing two bits of local folklore — the grand, Western painting and a good, old-fashioned cowboy shootout — into one offbeat event. The “Weekend in the West” kicks off at 5 p.m. Friday with a free exhibition of work by 40 artists respected for their renderings of bluffs, buffalo and rodeo riders. At 9 a.m. Saturday, the public is invited to watch the painters square off in the sculpture garden for a “Quick-Draw.” They have 90 minutes to paint the best piece they can. The action then moves to a $25 paid reception where the works are auctioned for the benefit of arts-education programs for kids. 3042 Evergreen Parkway, Evergreen. 303-679-3610 or
