The West Fork fire started June 5, 2013, but didn’t make headlines until June 13 when it expanded and was joined by another fire, the Windy Pass fire.

The National Wildfire Coordinating Group’s Glossary of Wildland Fire Terminology defines a complex as “.”

After becoming a complex with the addition of Windy Pass, West Fork expanded further when the nearby Papoose fire was added on June 20. All three fires were caused by lightning.

This time lapse map shows the growth of the fire through perimeter information gathered by infrared mapping flights. The map will be updated if more perimeter data become available.
