Sheridan Boulevard shut down Monday morning between West Fourth and West Fifth avenues because of a water main break.
, forcing the closure of all lanes.
Crews worked on the area throughout the day and were anticipating a midnight reopening of Sheridan. However, late Monday, Denver Water said on its Twitter account that it anticipated one lane in each direction would be open through the morning rush hour.
The area affected required that the road be repaved, according to Denver Water officials. Drivers were advised to take alternate routes. Regional Transportation District bus routes on Sheridan were also slowed by detours in the area.
