EL JEBEL, Colo.—Eagle County authorities are investigating after a man found the severed head of a dog in Crown Mountain Park in El Jebel.

According to the Aspen Daily News (), the rest of the animal’s body has not been found and there is no evidence another animal was responsible.

The remains have been turned over to Eagle County Animal Services, which is handling the investigation. The man says he found the carcass lying on the grass east of the park’s tennis courts. He was not identified.
