DURANGO, Colo.—Wildlife officials say a woman is recovering after a black bear bit her arm while she was sleeping in a tent south of Pagosa Springs.

The Durango Herald ( ) reports the woman was camping on private land when she was bit at about 2 a.m. Friday. Wildlife officials say the woman, whose name has not been released, must have pulled her arm away or made a sound because the bear retreated immediately.

She was treated at a hospital and released.

Trackers have not found the bear that attacked her.
