GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—Seven candidates have come forward to be considered for an appointment to the Grand Junction City Council.
The at-large seat became available after Rick Brainard resigned in July following an arrest last spring on allegations that he slapped and pushed his girlfriend.
The Daily Sentinel reports ( ) the candidates for the vacant seat are Riecke Claussen, Tom Kenyon, Reginald Wall, Michael Coltharp, Barbara Traylor Smith, Teresa Black and Charles Michael Elliott.
Current council members are scheduled on Sept. 5 to choose the new member for a term that ends in April 2015.
